The opportunity

Are you passionate about creating the best digital experience possible for UAL’s key audiences? If so, join our team at University of the Arts London (UAL) as a Junior User Experience (UX) Designer.

We are looking for an exceptional professional to join our dynamic central team, working closely with our colleges, students, and key university services as well as external contacts.

As a Junior UX Designer, you’ll use your creative talent and abilities in user experience, interaction design, and user-centred design principles to create consistent insight-driven experiences that engage our users.

As part of the newly formed Digital & Technology Department, you will be working in partnership with UX researchers, content designers, and developers in the Digital Team to deliver an excellent inclusive and accessible user experience across UAL’s core digital channels. Channels managed by the Digital Team include the UAL website, Portfolio, Graduate Showcase, and the staff digital workspace.

You will also be working with closely with the UI and Brand team to ensure that UX improvements continue to build on an evolving design system and are reflective of our brand values.

About you

You will be an organised self-starter, enthusiastic and a hard-working individual and team player – with a degree or equivalent level of relevant UX experience.

You will be able to evaluate user needs and identify opportunities for improvement. You have experience using analytics, usability testing and A/B testing to support design decisions.

A problem solver capable of transforming ideas into tangible, user-centric designs through wireframes, sketches, prototypes and user flows.

You are keen to participate in co-creative design teams and work together with content and UI designers to integrate UX solutions into the different UAL digital channels.

An excellent communicator – you will need to support, demonstrate and present your findings and recommendations to a wide range of stakeholders.

You’ll be passionate about user experience and putting users at the heart of our digital delivery.

Previous experience of working in a university would be an advantage but is not essential for the right candidate.

In return, UAL offers generous leave, an attractive salary and pension. We are committed to your continuing personal development and training in an environment that encourages excellence, creativity, and diversity.

If you have any queries about this role or need any reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact Zele Akhilele, Resourcing Adviser via email at DigitalandTechnologystaffrecruitment@arts.ac.uk.
