The opportunity
As a VLE Applications Support Analyst you will provide specialist 2nd and 3rd line support within the Web Services team, maintaining and supporting the University’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
You will apply configuration and software enhancements to these digital learning environments, liaising with technical teams, developers, external suppliers and customers. You will perform requirements analysis for change initiatives, contribute to relevant project work and ensure release processes and procedures are maintained, enabling smooth transition into operations.
You will lead on application smoke testing following change activities such as applications upgrades, liaising with team members to ensure platforms are fully ready for formal UAT.
You will support a wide range of web-based applications such as Moodle, Turnitin, Panopto, Blackboard, Mahara and WordPress. You will be passionate about technology with the drive to develop your expertise within a growing organisation.
You will get the opportunity to work collaboratively across D&T teams, whilst promoting a customer-centric and business-focused approach to service management, aligning business objectives with D&T from strategy through to operations and continual service improvements.
About you
Your profile will include:
- Strong experience of supporting, configuring and maintaining Moodle v3 or 4 is essential for this position.
- Experience of Turnitin, Mahara and WordPress would be advantageous.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Experience installing, configuring and maintaining third party web applications.
- Strong evidence of troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues/problems within an operational environment.
Desirable
- Working knowledge of web application development principles and technologies including HTML, CCS, JavaScript and PHP.
- A good understanding of ITIL service management processes and experience of using a service management tool is advantageous.
