The opportunity

This is an exciting opening for a Senior Web Developer within Digital & Technology at University of the Arts London. Focused on delivering new digital functionality and web development support for UAL’s digital channels, which include the main university website, student portfolio and showcase platforms, using PHP, JavaScript, HTML and related technologies.

Working with the core content management systems, and the wider development team to produce new functionality and services across a range of exciting digital products.

Empowered to be instrumental in designing and building foundational systems to reduce and realign our tech stack and help modernise ways of working. You will also get the opportunity to play a key role in projects, working with key stakeholders to identify requirements for new applications, working in an Agile environment and developing leadership skills by mentoring members in the team.

About you

Experience

  • Extensive experience of developing websites and web applications using PHP 8+, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, AJAX/JSON
  • Good working understanding of CMSs and frameworks such as WordPress, Craft and Laravel
  • Proficiency and application of WCAG 2.2 accessibility guidance
  • Knowledge of microservices, APIs (build and integration) and cloud services (AWS)
  • Strong stakeholder management experience, along with high level inter-personal and communication skills
  • Experience working as a member of a development team, providing support, mentoring and cover where needed
