Digital & Technology provide a strategic and transformational University-wide approach to digital and technology, designing and delivering services to enable learning and teaching, research, innovation, with a focus on continuously improving the student and staff experiences.

The Director of Architecture and Data is an exciting new leadership opportunity, working with the Chief Digital Officer, and in partnership with the Digital and Technology service Directors, responsible for driving credibility with the business and shaping our future technology landscape, a unique opportunity to make a significant impact into how UAL operate.

This post will be critical within the wider Digital & Technology Senior Leadership team, establishing and enhancing the foundations for an Architecture practice, engaging in the development and maintenance of applications, enabling innovative and efficient solutions, creation of roadmaps, policies, process, procedures, and implementation patterns which guide strategy and execution.

The post holder will develop and mature the architecture and integrations functions in its broadest sense, planning and designing technical strategy, alongside creating competitive advantage, faster execution aligned to strategies by understanding our core competencies.

Working as part of the Digital and Technology Senior Leadership Team, the role provides an opportunity to help transform the provision of digital and technology services to exceed the Universities’ Digital and Data ambitions.

About you

  • A background of working in IT senior management positions, with experience of delivering operational services
  • Experience of all domains of Architecture – Business, Data, Application, Technology and Security
  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise Architecture and of translating business needs into EA requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience of driving and championing new ways of working at scale across multiple products and services
  • Extensive experience of working collaboratively with Senior Leadership colleagues
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of an organisation, whether non-technical or technical
  • Experience of working within a Higher Education environment is desirable but not essential.
