The opportunity

Digital & Technology at UAL is on an exciting journey, shifting from a technology-centric to a user-centric approach, investing in the people and processes enabled by digital and transforming the student and staff experience.

This Front End Developer role is an exciting new opportunity in the Teaching and Learning Product team, focused on enhancing our student experience and delivering new digital functionality, fine-tuning the user experience across our Virtual Learning Environment (Moodle) and other Teaching and Learning products using your development expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP.

Alongside overseeing testing, documentation and code maintenance, you’ll get the opportunity to work closely with product teams, and under the guidance of the Development Manager, to deliver on our roadmap, ensuring the timely delivery of incremental improvements.

You’ll also be able to take an active interest in wider digital issues and emerging technologies and play a key part in contributing new ideas for enhancing our digital environment.

About you

Your profile will include:

  • Strong programming skills in HTML, CSS, PHP, and JavaScript.
  • A keen eye for UX/UI design with a focus on enhancing user experience.
  • Experience in a shared web development environment with a good understanding of version control and testing.
  • Ability to work within a multi-platform environment using tools such as WordPress and PHP.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 ‘AA’ compliance.
  • Experience of working within agile cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with Moodle’s architecture, themes, plugins, and module development is desirable but not essential.
