The opportunity

The Digital and Technology service is key in delivering on this vision, with a growing team spanning across all areas of the University’s digital portfolio. The department is actively engaged in an exciting journey, transitioning from a ‘classic’ IT model to a product-structured, user-centric approach to technology. We are investing in our people, and the processes enabled by digital, to evolve and transform the student and staff experience at UAL.

As a Cisco Network Engineer, you will work across the Network and Telephony team, providing network support and analysis, with the maintenance, development, and capacity management of the network infrastructure. You’ll work with the wider team, and external partners to ensure the successful integration and delivery of network services across the University. You will answer escalated technical queries and problems and will develop network best practice with the wider team.

About you

Your profile will include:

  • Current relevant experience in network, wireless and security.
  • Day-to-day operation of Network and Infrastructure in production, development, and test environments.
  • Hands-on working knowledge of Cisco routers, Cisco switches.
  • Good knowledge of TCP/IP networking including VLANs, layer 2/3 switching/routing.
  • Enterprise level experience, incorporating scalable, hierarchical models for LANs and WANs (ideally multi-site).
  • CCNA certification essential.
  • Cisco Wireless experience beneficial.
  • DNA, ISE and SDN experience desirable but not essential.
