The opportunity

Are you passionate about sustainability and digital innovation?

University of the Arts London (UAL) is seeking a visionary Digital Net Zero Manager to help us drive our ambitions towards a greener future.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of UAL’s efforts to reduce digital carbon emissions, playing a critical part in our commitment to achieve net zero by 2040 and promote a culture of environmental responsibility. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive digital carbon reduction plan with specific targets, working closely with the central net zero team and other departments
  • Measuring, analysing, and reporting on digital carbon emissions across a variety of services, providing comparable data to identify key areas of priority
  • Providing expert advice on carbon reduction strategies and influencing behaviour change to support Directors and Heads of Product and Service in delivering sustainable service strategies
  • Assessing carbon reduction priorities for the Digital and Technology department, including new hardware practices, hosting, data storage, application consolidation, printing reduction, and office space and travel emissions

About you

You will:

  • Be experienced in implementing innovation strategies and action plans relevant to energy transition and Net Zero
  • Have an understanding of the challenges and opportunities in Higher Education for carbon reduction
  • Be a subject matter expert with a deep commitment and understanding of improving our environmental impact and the achievement of Net Zero
  • Be educated to degree level (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant subject, or with equivalent relevant professional experience
  • Have experience of contributing to and participating in engagement activities, including workshops, event series, conferences, and festivals, to promote and share net zero and social purpose initiatives
