The opportunity

We are looking for an experienced, creative and well-organised Senior Digital Content Designer to join our busy Digital Team.

As an expert practitioner, you will be leading on and working on a variety of content design projects, continuous improvement work and deliver training to editors. 

You will also provide excellent customer service via our virtual help desk and you must be able to negotiate with as well as influence stakeholders.

You must understand the web, technology, and people. You should be user-focussed and prioritise our users’ needs in everything you do.

You will line manage a Content Designer and line management experience is desirable. 

About you

You are an experienced, creative and well-organised Digital Content Designer.

A relevant qualification (such as a degree or equivalent) and/or relevant experience creating and editing content for websites and intranets is essential.

Excellent IT skills and ability to use, or learn how to use, a range of software including: 

  • MS Office 
  • Google Analytics 
  • HTML 
  • email newsletter software (Mail Chimp or similar) 
  • survey software (JISC, MS Forms and similar) and online forms software 
  • Photoshop and other Adobe editing software

Extensive experience creating and editing content for websites and intranets. You must have experience of designing and creating content, using a content management system (CMS) and writing and editing readable content. We need somebody with excellent interpersonal skills, and you must be confident working with a wide range of people who have varying levels of understanding of content and the web.

You need to be enthusiastic, diplomatic and persuasive, with a keen understanding of negotiating with subject-matter experts. You must be comfortable working independently and making content decisions. 

Experience of working in sprints using Agile methodology in a fast-paced digital environment, both in a digital team and independently with minimal supervision. 

You will be managing a Digital Content Designer so line management experience is desirable.
