Find out more about our new Chancellor

One of the BBC’s leading news anchors, Clive regularly presents the News at Six and Ten. He is an experienced foreign correspondent who has reported from all over the world – having served as the BBC’s Asia, Africa, Washington and Europe Correspondent. He is also the host of First Night of the Proms, Mastermind and Celebrity Mastermind, and was recently named as one of the lead presenters for BBC General Election Night.

Clive has been a powerful advocate for the importance of storytelling and increasing representation both on and off screen. Through his work across media, he has championed the role of arts and culture. His contributions include documentaries such as his radio series on the history of jazz in Britain, his TV show on the creation of the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra and being the regular presenter of the First Night of the Proms. He began his term as Chancellor with a visit to UAL’s London College of Communication (LCC) where he met with students from its BA and MA Film and Television and Journalism courses.

I am honoured to be named Chancellor of UAL, an institution dedicated to supporting and nurturing the talent that goes on to shape our creative industries. UAL teaches an extraordinary range of subjects, from journalism and fashion to fine art and creative computing. These disciplines enrich our lives and play a vital role in shaping our understanding of the world, uncovering truths and creating change. Having already visited and spoken with students at LCC, I look forward to getting to know staff and students across the University and championing their incredible work.
