What to expect when applying for jobs at UAL
Overview
The recruitment process at the University of the Arts London is designed to be fair, transparent and inclusive. Applications are reviewed using anonymised shortlisting and trained selection panels to reduce bias and ensure equity for all candidates.
While some steps vary depending on the role, the information below explains how the process works and where to find detailed guidance at each stage.
Most recruitment processes at UAL take around six weeks following the closing date and include five core stages:
- Application
- Shortlisting
- Interview or assessment
- Offer
- Onboarding
Some roles may include additional assessment stages such as presentations, psychometric testing, teaching sessions, stakeholder interviews or panel interviews.
What happens after a vacancy closes
Once a vacancy closes, the relevant Resourcing Team will notify the selection panel to begin shortlisting. Candidates are usually informed of the outcome within 10 to 15 days, although this may take longer during periods of high application volume.
All candidates are notified of the outcome by email, whether or not they progress to the next stage.
Applying early and closing dates
Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible. In some cases, vacancies may close earlier than planned if a high volume of applications is received.
