The opportunity
As a Grade 4 Technician you will provide professional expertise, guidance and advice to students and staff working with Print & Dye which includes specialist knowledge of textile print, dye and finishing including silkscreen, heat press, digital image preparation for textile print, sustainable fashion and textiles print & dye processes.
With a working knowledge of computer software and carbon literacy relevant to workshop use, you will be assisting diverse groups of new learners and practitioners from different Fashion and Textiles taught pathways, ensuring staff and students work in an environment that is both productive and safe, and supporting the maintenance of equipment.
In addition, you will also provide support for student learning through informal and formal training and instruction.
You will not only bring key skills with you but will have the opportunity to develop new skills and experience across a wide range of technical workshops in an evolving area.
About you
You should have a BA in a relevant Art and Design subject, or the equivalent professional experience gained through working in industry/practice and/or in education. You must be able to demonstrate and pass on technical skills to a wide range of students, have an in-depth knowledge of fashion and textiles print on a variety of substrates including relevant finishing techniques for Print & Dye. You should have a working knowledge of sustainable materials and digital editing, and an awareness and appreciation of the need for high levels of customer care, and professional experience in the discipline or with open-access approaches to workshop lab learning environments.
