The opportunity
This is a specialist role will be working directly with undergraduate and postgraduate students, within our textiles Knitwear department at the London College of Fashion. You will prepare and deliver specialist technical taught workshops, demonstrations, one to one sessions and supervised studio, to groups of students with a wide range of ability and skills. Incorporating highly specialist techniques in the area of hand and machine knitwear sampling and construction, as part of exciting Technical and Academic knitwear team. providing a high-quality teaching and learning experience for students. You will have excellent organisational skills, enabling you to be able to oversee the day to day running of the knit workshop, learning resources, maintenance and Health and Safety of the knitwear department.
About you
We are looking for an engaged, enthusiastic, and creative person to join our existing team of Technical Teaching & Learning staff, with an interest in research, contributing to existing work to create and develop a world-class learning experience for our students. With a graduate degree, equivalent qualification or relevant experience, the successful candidate will have proven and demonstrable experience with a variety of industry standard equipment and processes in the area of fashion knitwear Including:
Dubied and Domestic Knitting machines, Garment construction, Fully Fashioning and Cut and Sew. Yarn development. Experience of the Stoll machine would be an asset.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously in a self-disciplined manner, whilst adhering to an extremely high standard of customer care, are essential characteristics for this role. The post holder should be highly proactive, well organised, command excellent interpersonal and supervisory skill while operating with a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration. Experience of teaching and learning within an HE role is also desirable.
Please note this role will require flexible working patterns including evening and weekend work.
