The opportunity

This senior management post will lead the short course operations team to successfully, plan, deliver and review the annual programme of 1800+ short courses, portfolio courses, and customised training, operating across designated colleges and sites at UAL, ensuring this is delivered in line with income and profit targets.  

The post will work closely with the Operations and Programme and Planning Programme Development Managers to undertake annual planning and scheduling activities for the full business, using previous years performance and sales and demand levels to determine appropriate resources, course schedules and capacity and create opportunity for development of new courses and enhancement of existing courses to ensure the continued growth of the business.  

About you

Your profile will include:

  • Experience of and understanding of the art and design FE and HE education system. 
  • Experience managing a high volume short course operation (desirable).
  • Experience of managing business and administrative processes, and undertaking systems and process improvements.  
  • Experience managing staff and leading teams across multiple sites.

UAL Short Courses (UALSC) is part of the University’s department of Academic Enterprise which leads the University of the Arts London’s commercial educational operations. There are 100 staff and 1,500 hourly paid staff in Academic Enterprise, which is integral to the University’s long-term development.

Its mission is to increase the amount of income generated by the University from non-core teaching and research activities. It includes several successful existing business operations including UAL Short Courses Ltd, AE International (English Language preparation and Study Abroad) as well as UALAT.
