The opportunity
Join the forefront of innovation at the London College of Fashion as the Professor: Design and Technology and Director of Digital Research Lab. This exciting role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in shaping the future of digital fashion design technology. Step into a leadership role and develop the Digital Research Lab, where you’ll have the opportunity to direct, guide, and support cutting-edge research initiatives in the fields of wearable tech, 3D product development, digital twins, digital manufacturing, data analytics, and immersive technologies.
Take charge and help develop the University of the Arts London’s (UAL) research objectives. With your experience in building international academic and industry partnerships, you’ll have the opportunity to continue expanding the lab’s impact and visibility.
Collaborate with the Dean of the School of Design and Technology to steer the development of a dynamic portfolio of research in digital fashion technologies. Work closely with internal and external communities and industry partners to apply cutting-edge design technologies and make an impact. With the responsibility of directing the research efforts of all academic staff and research degree students within the lab, you’ll have the chance to bridge the gap between University interests and emerging academic and industry partnerships.
In addition to your teaching and research duties, you’ll also be at the forefront of securing funding through the initiation, planning, and direction of external funding bids. Take your career to the next level and become a catalyst for change in the exciting field of digital fashion design technology.
About you
With a recognised international research profile, you will be considered a leader in your field of study, with evidence of your contributions to the professional practice/research of your specialism. To compound this, you will maintain a strong academic background, educated to PhD level in the areas of either design, technology, arts, social sciences or STEM related disciplines.
You will be a capable leader with the ability to motivate and enthuse others, possessing demonstrable experience of managing a research community, utilising innovative approaches to facilitate learning and research. With an extensive professional background working at a senior level, you will be capable of developing and writing research proposals and funding bids, demonstrating a proven record in acquiring significant external funding.
