The opportunity

The BA Illustration & Visual Media, Design School (LCC) seeks a lecturer in Visualisation and Storytelling for Employability and Enterprise to lead and support the development of curricula and teaching across the course that expands illustration and visual media in into storytelling and visualisation for employability and enterprise.

As a lecturer you are responsible for teaching, administration, assessment, curriculum development, and on-going scholarship within the discipline. You will work collaboratively within a course team, deploying specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions. You will make a significant contribution to the quality of learning and the support students receive in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully.

You will also work with the Course Leader, students and colleagues across the college in promoting and developing the subject through conferences, public exhibitions and other contributions to research and knowledge exchange. You will develop partnerships and collaborations with industry and academic partners as well as bring your own research and/or practice to bear on the development of the subject and the course.

About you

You will have previous experience of teaching in Higher Education or comparable context, and in delivering a high-quality student experience, as well as some knowledge of curriculum development and assessment. You should be comfortable working with diverse cohorts of students and committed to a teaching approach that integrates theory and practice and will engage students through a combination of innovative pedagogy and knowledge exchange.

 

An MA or equivalent relevant industry experience in fields associated with Illustration and Visual Media or associated subjects is desirable. You will have a strong commitment to the advancement of your field with a particular focus on visualisation and storytelling for employability and enterprise. You will be proactive and actively contribute to the course and programme’s aims and vision.

 

You should be a specialist practitioner who is keen to use your industry-based experience to support the development of student work on the BA Illustration & Visual Media. You should have a strong understanding of the contemporary context of visualisation and storytelling in professional setting, and be engaged in relevant networks and communities of practice within this and/or related fields.
