The opportunity

We are seeking multiple lecturers in Game Design and Development, to work with the BA Games Design course across all 3 years.

Your main responsibilities will be to work to support students to design and develop games.

This will include preparation, teaching, assessment, as well as student support and administration. The role will include the following areas:

– A fundamental understanding of game design in terms of gameplay and communication between the game and the player. This should be supported with appropriate academic / theoretical inputs and working examples created by yourself and examples illustrated in existing commercial games.

– A good working knowledge of Unity to develop 2D and 3D games using C#.

– A solid understanding of Object Orientation Programming principles and concepts.

– A range of programming skills for making games including the use of arrays to manipulate multiple game objects. Additional programming skills such as search algorithms and shaders would be beneficial as well as good understanding of programming design patterns.

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience teaching Game Design and Development ideally in Higher Education or extensive professional experience.

You will have critical, theoretical and practical knowledge of Games Design and Development as well as an understanding of games and play in the wider context of visual communications such as AR, VR, interactivity, animation and VFX.

You will have a knowledge and expertise in developing digital and non-digital prototypes through to fully playable games.

You will take a dynamic and innovative approach to supporting excellent teaching, pedagogy and inclusivity.

PG Cert teaching qualification desirable or equivalent experience.
