The opportunity

If you offer experience of providing administrative and project support this position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role helping to create opportunities for UAL students and graduates as they embark on their professional futures in the creative industries.

You will support the smooth running of UAL’s Professional Mentoring Programme, which matches students with creative industry professionals to provide one-to-one support and guidance, as well as the Mead Fellowship Awards, which provide funding to help UAL alumni to develop and launch their creative practice.

The role involves constant communication with industry mentors, students, graduates, award applicants and UAL staff, and adapting your style accordingly. You will support the Mentoring and Projects Coordinator in setting up registrations and delivering (mainly online) training and briefing sessions for new mentors and mentees and support a comprehensive selection process for the Mead Fellowships – right through to the finalists’ pitches to the judges. You will also help to match mentoring partnerships, track their progress and troubleshoot where needed.

You will also provide support with student-facing work, administration, record keeping, and help to ensure that the programmes and processes are as accessible and inclusive as possible and provide extra appropriate support for students who are identified as being underrepresented within the creative industries.

About you

You will need experience of providing excellent administrative support and maintaining accurate records and tracking progress. The ability to create and edit promotional copy for a variety of uses is equally important.

Some knowledge of inclusion and diversity issues in further and higher education is desirable but not essential.

You will also need good customer service skills in order to provide bespoke support to service users and be comfortable working to project schedules / deadlines and prioritising your own work.
