THIS JOB HAS NOW CLOSED
The opportunity
As part of the Estates Department, Facilities Assistants Team you will use your skills to deliver a range of customer-focused facilities support and premises services to ensure a secure, well maintained and friendly environment for staff, students and visitors. This will include opening and closing arrangements for one or more properties, daily premises audits/inspections, a range of porterage duties, regular site cleaning, and the processing of all incoming and outgoing deliveries, mail sorting, franking and delivery duties. You will provide a first-line access control/security presence at specified properties, ensuring the safe access and egress of authorized staff, students, visitors and contractors. You will also be required to meet and greet all visitors in a courteous and professional manner, dealing with enquiries as appropriate, alerting hosts of their visitors and/or directing visitors to venues as appropriate. You will carry out the duties of a First Aider, undertaking certified training where necessary and appropriate to maintain valid certification.
The post holder will be required to work as part of the Estates wide operational staff on a roster and may be required to move between properties to ensure that operational needs are met across the normal six-day operational cycle. Where staff resources are required at short notice to meet unexpected demand, it will be expected that the post holder will move between properties on the same day. The post holder will be required to work on an early and late shift basis which is five days over a six day week, including some Saturdays. The shifts are either 7.00am to 3.00pm or 2.00pm/2.30pm to 10.00pm/10.30pm (depending on site) on a rotational roster.
The London College of Fashion at East bank Stratford operates a shift pattern of 5 days over 7 days which will include 2 Saturdays and one Sunday over a four week cycle.
The role requires that the post holder has a flexible approach as they may be required at short notice and on some occasions within the same day to move between UAL College buildings to ensure the operational requirements are maintained.
About you
With demonstrable knowledge of security, portering and mail handling operations and a good knowledge of customer facing facilities management services, you are a trained first aider with SIA accreditation. Experienced at manual handling and ‘Goods Inward’. You are punctual, conscientious, courteous and customer-focused, displaying a professional approach at all times. You are competent in IT programmes such as MS Office, Email and Internet to enable best use of available information and communications as necessary for the post. You also have experience of conveying information accurately as well as coordinating own effort with that of others so the work is completed effectively in line with team objectives. Crucially you contribute to the improvement of standards by having accurate and up to date knowledge of services available in your own and related areas of work, ensuring that the experience of each customer is positive and satisfactory.
