The opportunity

We are seeking a filmmaker or television practitioner-academic who aspires to teach environmentally sustainable practices across the Film and Television (FTV) Programme at the Screen School, London College of Communication.

The post holder will collaborate with course teams in the teaching and learning to ensure positive environmental actions for sustainable production and storytelling on the fiction, documentary and factual production-based, screenwriting, and film curation courses.

This role will promote sustainable practice(s) and support other initiatives for/from the FTV student body, the Programme or School, UAL and/or wider institutions, and professional practice in the industry. This includes the embedding, teaching, and administering of the BAFTA’s Albert Educational Partnership teaching pack and the carbon calculator.

The post-holder will work with the course teams, technical colleagues, our student change-maker and our student climate advocate across the Film and Television undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The post will report to the Programme Director.

About you

You will have a working knowledge of professional filmmaking and television production and your primary interest is the environmental sustainability for the production aspect of film/tv practices and, mobilising and inspiring actions through film/tv storytelling.

As a film/tv practitioner or educator your practice or skillset could be in production, direction, script and/or one of the craft roles. You may be a climate activist educated in film/tv and/or you may be a practitioner or educator looking to change their specialist practice to sustainability. You will be able to demonstrate knowledge, experience and commitment towards the delivery and/or research of sustainable practice for film and television and you must be familiar with albert.

You will be comfortable working as part of the team and share aspiration, knowledge, and expertise about sustainable practices with staff and students. You will champion equality, diversity, and inclusivity in your teaching and learning. You will have informed or working knowledge of risk assessment, health and safety protocols, safe-working practices and legal obligations for film and television.
