The opportunity

UAL Awarding Body has a pipeline of new qualifications in development for 14 -19 and 19+ year olds, and a qualifications revision cycle that needs to be undertaken to meet regulatory requirements and exploit commercial opportunities.

 This role supports the qualification development cycle by co-ordinating and undertaking qualification development administration and activities, communicating with internal and external stakeholders about new and existing qualifications, supporting reviews into our existing portfolio of products/qualifications and supporting the process for qualifications identified for amendments and/or withdrawal.

 They will contribute to the end-to-end development process, including drafting and maintaining project plans, monitoring budgets, processing invoices, reviewing qualification development documents and acting as secretariat for focus groups and steering groups. The post holder will have some understanding of compliance with Regulators’ Conditions of Recognition.

 This post holder must have good project management and communication skills, and the ability to work across multiple projects and prioritise their own time.

About you

Qualification development 

  • Support the co-ordination, administration and project management associated with planning, designing and developing a wide range of new products and services to support education in the creative arts at Levels Entry 3– Level 5 of the national qualification’s framework.
  • Support with the undertaking of research for the compilation of business cases and other qualification related activities. 
  • Undertake qualification development, review and withdrawal activities in line with agreed processes and procedures.
  • ·Analyse results from surveys, Quartz data, competitors and provide recommendation to line manager.
  • Contribute to the deliverables of qualification development, including qualification specifications, assessment materials and support materials, and provide support to other internal stakeholders in the creation of qualification assessment strategies.

 

Customer service and relationship management

  • First-class customer focused service is provided to approved centres, staff and students.
  • Internal and external relationships are developed and maintained to the benefit of UAL Awarding Body. 
  • Represent the Awarding Body during internal and external events, meetings and conferences.
  • Ensure that existing partnership working/service level agreements are maintained, compliant and performance monitored regularly and reviewed as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the Awarding Body to ensure that appropriate contributions are made during the design, development and review of qualifications.
  • Work with external stakeholders and consultants to ensure that UAL Awarding Body qualifications are current and fit for purpose, ensuring they are effectively contracted, and all regulatory obligations are met. 
  • Actively contribute to internal and external stakeholder meetings, forums and strategy/steering groups.
  • Work with Relationships and Insights to draft external communications and contributions to newsletters for new developments, funding and other areas of interest.
  • Be the first point of contact for the Qualifications Development Inbox, answering customer queries and providing up-to-date information as required.

 

Sector awareness

  • Maintain an update to date knowledge of UCAS and funding processes and timeframes.
  • Maintain awareness of key policy changes in the educational landscape which directly impact qualifications you support.
  • Uphold conditions of recognition from various regulators including Ofqual, CCEA Regulation and Qualifications Wales. 

Administration

  • Supports the financial and contractual administration required to maintain projects.
  • Be the single point of contact for Finance, for raising POs, dealing with invoices and expense claims, setting up suppliers and dealing with queries about payment of suppliers.
  • Is the secretariat of subject specific development groups, internal workshops, focus groups and steering groups.
  • Produces minutes for subject specific development groups, internal workshops, focus groups and steering groups with attention to detail including SPaG and formatting.
  • Support the external developer pool, including updating the Register, training events, newsletters, updates, contracts and communications.
  • Provide information for project tracking and reporting, preparing relevant project plans and information as and when required.
  • Maintains accurate, auditable records of all qualification development and other activities utilising the Awarding Bodies IT systems along with paper and other electronic records. 
  • Maintain the team’s filing system so folders are up-to-date and provide a clear audit of project activities.
  • Responsible for checking content for accessible specifications, the funding summary and qualifications guide.
  • Support the production and amendment of specifications, assessment materials and resources using specialist creative software such as InDesign.
  • Support audit tracking within teams for all qualification development activities.
  • Booking and arranges meetings (including rooms, taxis, couriers, catering) and make travel bookings, as required.
