The opportunity

This exciting opportunity is for a talented individual with industry experience in fashion garment construction and pattern cutting to join our team of Specialist Technicians. You will play a key role in working directly with undergraduate and postgraduate students across Garment Technology courses at London College of Fashion.

In this engaging role, you will prepare and deliver technical workshops and inductions to students, providing highly specialist guidance and instruction in garment construction and pattern-cutting techniques for menswear and womenswear, aligned to industry standards.  To fulfil this role, you must be able to utilise specialist machinery and equipment, to provide formal and informal training and instructions to students through face-to-face and online delivery.

About you

Your role will be critical in enhancing student learning and proficiency in fashion technology, requiring you to have substantial industry experience in garment construction and pattern-cutting to a high level of accuracy in menswear and womenswear.  You will require digital literacy skills and be responsible for developing online learning resources to accommodate synchronous and asynchronous delivery to meet the needs of our students who have a diverse range of skills and abilities across our garment-making courses.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work autonomously in a self-disciplined manner, whilst adhering to an extremely high standard of customer care, are essential characteristics for this role.  The post holder should be highly proactive, well organised, and command excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills while operating with a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration.  Experience of teaching and learning within an HE role is also desirable.

Please note that this position involves working flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Shortlisted applicants from the interview will be required to participate in a practical test held at Mare Street on Friday 7th July.
