The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Photography Programme within the Media School at London College of Communication, working on our new MA Commercial Photography course. With knowledge, skills and experience of the contemporary photography industry you will be part of a team developing and delivering this innovative course. You will also be responsible for developing students creative, technical, professional and entrepreneurial skills.  A key part of your role will be developing relationships with commercial partners, companies, brands and publishers to develop live briefs and professional opportunities for the students and graduates.

With enthusiasm for innovative course delivery and knowledge of contemporary commercial practices, you will be responsible for leading, teaching, assessing, unit management and curriculum development. You will provide pastoral and academic support to our diverse student community along with monitoring their progress and attendance, and maintaining appropriate records.

In this role you’ll develop your ongoing professional industry experience, and work collaboratively with the Programme team to use your specialist expertise in the development of pedagogy and curriculum in innovative and critical directions. With the course team you will develop recruitment strategies, curriculum and post graduation opportunities that aim to address the current lack of diversity within the commercial sector.

Your contributions will extend the level of subject expertise and critical understanding on the MA Commercial Photography Course and keep the curriculum at the forefront of creative and professional practice.

About you

You will have extensive knowledge, skills and experience of working in the photography industry, in roles such as photographer, agent, picture editor or art buyer. You will have experience of the full creative workflow, from commissioning, pitching, budgeting, pre production, production, post production and image licensing.

You will have experience of working with students, graduates and/or photographers on career development and an understanding of professional fee structures, and marketing.

You will have a wide ranging and relevant cultural and contextual knowledge and be able to apply this to contemporary commercial practices within your teaching.

You will be an innovative educator with a commitment to the ongoing development of pedagogy as a creative practice, and to promoting diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of their teaching and assessment. Experience of Higher Education teaching will be combined with highly effective interpersonal skills, excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

If you have any queries about this role or need any reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact Lesley Wilkins, Senior Resourcing Adviser, lcc.jobs@lcc.arts.ac.uk or telephone: 020 7514 7985
