The opportunity

Who are LCC Technical Resources?

As a team, we manage the technical spaces and resources at London College of Communication (LCC) in ways that support the needs of our community: from teaching, learning, research and knowledge exchange to events, exhibitions and commercial activity.

Inclusive and dynamic, we have a strong commitment to developing staff and supporting them to reach their full potential.

Purpose of the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Digital Arts Technical Team, supporting students studying visual effects, traditional and digital animation, immersive technologies and games design.

You will work with students and staff on the following courses: BA and MA Animation, BA Immersive Media & Mixed Reality, MA Virtual Reality, BA Computer Animation & Visual Effects, MA VFX, MA 3D Computer Animation, BA Games Art, BA and MA Games Design.

You will develop workshops & resources and provide professional support, technical expertise, guidance and advice in practical visual effects, green/blue screen use, MoCap, compositing, post-production and 3D world and asset design techniques across a wide range of courses within the MIDA (Moving Image and Digital Arts) Programme.

Drawing upon your extensive knowledge and experience, you will support student learning in subjects including but not limited to: practical visual effects, ICVFX, green/blue screen set ups, camera & lighting setups; using motion capture equipment and software; working with 2D and 3D compositing and content creation software; and working with VFX, animation, games and XR pipelines, helping them to develop a broad range of increasingly essential technical skills.

You will manage some of the MIDA studios and play an integral part in ensuring that students at LCC have access to the fullest range of technical resources, and experience the latest in emerging and digital technologies, and that those resources are being managed & used safely and efficiently.

As an active member of the technical team, you will contribute to the technical resources strategy by providing vital information and data to the technical coordinator and technical managers. Your role will encompass communicating with stakeholders, acting as a point of contact for technical support and ensuring access to up-to-date and accurate information for students, academics, technicians, and other university staff.

LCC is enjoying significant growth and transformation as we prepare to move to our new cutting-edge London Campus in 2026 and you will play an important role in helping to influence and shape its development.

About you

We are looking for an experienced, adaptable, dynamic and motivated person with a wide range of skills. Ideally, a creative individual with a passion for visual effects and its related subjects and workflows, who will relish the challenge of supporting a diverse range of talented creatives and renowned academics.  We need someone who is a good communicator, able to explain complex information clearly. You will be confident in imparting skills and knowledge to students, academic and other technical staff. Experience of supporting customers and stakeholders in a creative environment is key. Knowledge of Health & Safety management related to the designated technical areas and studios is important. You will have an excellent knowledge of analogue and digital studio techniques used for visual effects and related subjects, including software and hardware maintenance, studio & equipment maintenance and a strong knowledge of VFX, content creation, XR and emerging technology.

You will also be proficient in the use of several of the following relevant software:
Nuke, Houdini, Blender, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop and more. Also, good working knowledge of hardware and software systems for MoCap, compositing and ICVFX.

If there are any aspects of the role that you may require training in, then this will be provided. LCC is committed to the personal and professional development of its technical staff.

If you have any queries about this role or need any reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact Lesley Wilkins, Resourcing Adviser, lcc.jobs@lcc.arts.ac.uk or telephone: 020 7514 7985
