The opportunity
The Design School (LCC) seeks to appoint two Senior Lecturer in Graphic Media Design, with a particular focus on supporting and leading the design research directions in graphic design. The role also involves contributing to curriculum development in the domain of embodied and situated design practice, while working with the community of practice in questioning assumptions in graphic design. The senior lecturer will be experienced in leading and supporting the development of curricula and teaching at MA level on Graphic Media Design or related courses.
As a senior lecturer you are responsible for teaching, administration, assessment, curriculum development, and on-going scholarship within the discipline. You will work collaboratively within a course team, deploying specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions. You will make a significant contribution to the quality of learning and the support students receive in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully.
You will also work with the Course Leaders, students and colleagues across the college in promoting and developing the subjects through conferences, public exhibitions and other contributions to research and knowledge exchange. You will develop partnerships and collaborations with industry and academic partners as well as bring your own research and/or practice to bear on the development of the subject and the course.

About you
You will have previous experience of teaching in Higher Education or comparable context, and in delivering a high-quality student experience, as well as some curriculum development. You engage students through a combination of innovative and compassionate pedagogy, knowledge exchange and/or research. You will have or should be willing to attain, with UAL’s support, a relevant teaching qualification or recognition.
An MA or equivalent relevant industry experience in fields associated with graphic design or related disciplines is essential. You will have a strong commitment to the advancement and expansion of your field, and a strong commitment to responsible design practices and applying these in academic or professional context. You will be motivated to working closely within team and the students and actively support the course leader to achieve the course’s aims and vision.
You should be a specialist practitioner and/or researcher who is keen to use your academic and/or industry-based experience to develop and challenge the discipline and support the development of student work on the course. You should have a strong understanding of the contemporary context of graphic design in an academic and/or professional setting, and be engaged in relevant networks and communities of practice within this and/or related fields, and also have an understanding of the MA Graphic Media Design, at LCC’s course philosophy.
