The opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing technical team of technicians supporting students at the UAL Creative Computing Institute.

You will provide professional technical expertise, guidance, and advice in the use of programming for creative applications of Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing and Data Science concepts. You will be providing support that is tailored for people of all ability levels from beginners to professors working on cutting edge research.

Drawing upon your knowledge and experience, you will support students and staff with general programming support in the form of one-to-one tutorial, in person and online, also help plan and deliver student learning experiences in you specialised area, such as workshops or other relevant extracurricular learning activities.

You will be responsible, as part of the whole team, for maintaining a safe workspace and providing inductions, while using systems to loan equipment and other bookable resources.

About you

You will have relevant technical experience supporting people in the creative computational, data science, AI and coding field as well as other related areas including programming, software development, relevant networks and server usage.

Your understanding of tools, workflows, and practices in programming shall be useful to inform your practice in this role as will your fluency in the Python, C and C++ programming languages alongside your ability to support students and staff across platforms including Windows, macOS, Linux (esp. Ubuntu and Raspbian) GUI and CLI interacts.

You should hold experience of working with some of the following: 

  • TensorFlow or PyTorch 
  • Scikit 
  • Anaconda / Miniconda 
  • Git version management

You will work alongside other technicians and academics within the institute to ensure students are trained in the safe, innovative, and professional use of relevant technical resources.

You will be a be a creative and motivated individual who is able to work effectively as part of a team and contribute towards developing an inclusive technical environment in-line with CCI’s Social Mission.
