The opportunity

Your main responsibility will be preparation, teaching, administration and assessment of a unit or part of a unit. You will make a significant contribution to the quality of learning and support our students receive in order to enable them to complete their studies successfully.

You will work closely with other academic staff, including the Programme Director and Course Leader.

About you

We are looking for Associate Lecturers to teach design research methods and practices for our MA Design management course. This is a practice-led course which seeks to develop and foster critical creative practice and design leadership thinking in the field of Design Management. The course is structured around collaborative project work and discussion, part of your job will be to contribute to teaching delivery and project supervision and to ensure an enriching and rewarding student experience.

Ideal candidates will have worked or are currently working in design research, design strategy, user experience design or social design and related creative industries. You should be a specialist practitioner and/or researcher who is keen to use your academic and/or industry-based experience to support the development of student work on the MA Design Management course. You should have a strong understanding of the contemporary context of design management in an academic and/or professional setting and be engaged in relevant networks and communities of practice within this and/or related fields. The role requires seminar and workshop-based teaching and delivery, research supervision and also the marking and assessing of coursework.

Experience of working with HE students and enhancing the student experience is highly desirable. Ideal candidates will be familiar with debates relating to decolonising design. You should be able to demonstrate that you are comfortable working with diverse groups, have experience of working with international students and can work effectively and respectfully with a wide range of people.
