The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of UAL’s BA Fashion Textiles Embroidery Pathway.
The Textiles department at London College of Fashion consists of three Pathway degrees (Print: Knit; Embroidery) each having a specialist focus, whilst encouraging varied and diverse textile design responses. Our graduates have worked for renowned companies such as Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, Mary Katranzou, Victoria Beckham, as well as a range of commercial companies, and textile studios internationally.
The Pathway Leader for Fashion Textiles Embroidery is responsible for teaching, curriculum development, and on-going scholarship and will work collaboratively within a course team, deploying specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and the curriculum in innovative and critical directions.
Key responsibilities will include:
Implementing the academic leadership of the Pathway, including the maintenance and enhancement of standards
The day to day management of the Pathway including its delivery and development
Ensuring the Pathway content is appropriate and in line with the vision of the course and Pathway as directed by the Course Leader
Pedagogic and curriculum development that stimulates thought and practice and challenges the canon of fashion textiles embroidery with the aim of promoting diversity and inclusivity
About you
The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in fashion textiles design/mixed media/ fashion embroidery or an associated subject with experience of teaching and assessment in a Higher Education environment. Experience of the design and practice of both craft and digital embroidery for fashion is essential.
They will also require evidence of research, knowledge exchange and/ or professional practice that contributes to the advancement of fashion textiles embroidery.
