The opportunity

University of the Arts London is seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Support Technician to provide exceptional technical AV and equipment support to our staff and students.

Ostensibly based at either Camberwell, Chelsea or Wimbledon College of Arts you will be required to have flexibility to support the delivery of academic learning activities within our lecture theatres, seminar spaces and studios, working as part of a team across our four sites to ensure operational delivery as required.

You’ll provide responsive on-demand in-person and remote assistance to staff, supporting them in their use of installed AV hardware and software for teaching, remote learning, lecture capture and live streaming.

This is a full time site-based role which may on occasion involve some flexible working to support after-hours events.

About you

With relevant qualifications to BA degree level and/ or equivalent industry experience and certification (Avixa CTS), you’ll have significant Audio-Visual support experience as an AV engineer in a higher education or enterprise environment.

You’ll have gained knowledge of integrated audio visual solutions and related software and will be looking to develop your skills in sharing this knowledge in supporting colleagues. You’ll have a strong working knowledge of common switching, distribution and audio products – preferably Extron and AMX. Extron programming experience is highly desirable. Other AV industry certification would be an advantage.

You will be capable of installing and operating a wide range of AV equipment including IT, projection, presentation, camera and audio equipment.  You will have a proactive approach to asset and consumables management, carrying out regular routine maintenance and servicing tasks, some of which involve working at height.  You will be capable of fault diagnosis, testing and repair as appropriate.  

You are approachable with good communication skills and even when working under pressure, you’re able to give clear and accurate information to ensure a high level of quality service delivery.  You’ll have a resourceful and considered approach to problem solving.

You’ll be able to demonstrate experience of working in a busy customer/ client facing role, where you provided technical support for professional AV hardware and software.

You’re a motivated, reliable and punctual individual who is able to work effectively and flexibly as part of a team and independently.
