The opportunity

As UAL responds to a changing world, we have recently launched an ambitious new 10-year strategy. The University Central Planning Unit will play an important role in defining how we reach our strategic goals and monitoring our progress on this journey.

As result we are investing in our planning team and expanding our capacity to help us shape the provision UAL offers, whilst ensuring we are informing and monitoring outcomes. This provision of advice, insights and analysis will allow senior decision-makers to plan for growth and ensure we are offering a first-class experience to all our students.

The Planning Analyst (Data Analytics) will take on a range of work to support planning and decision-making through the development and enhancement of our data analytics and management information reporting environment, together with work on our statutory/external returns.

The role is varied, and you will be undertaking the development of reporting dashboards in the University’s data visualisation tool whilst contributing to the data environment upon which these dashboards rely. You will also support the use of Alteryx within the Planning Unit, including further developments to our planning model and validation of data for our external returns.

About you

You will likely be looking to develop your experience or be ambitious to progress to your next role.

In your application you will need to evidence a working knowledge of SQL, including constructing complex queries, creating views, implementing stored procedures and functions, and knowledge of MS SQL Server. You will also have an understanding of relational databases, data visualisation techniques, and Microsoft Excel. Your experience will include working in a fast-paced role, managing competing demands, and disseminating management information to various audiences.

Experience in making a significant contribution to the preparation and submission of statutory returns is desirable, as is knowledge of Alteryx and reporting requirements in the UK Higher Education sector.

If you need any reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact, Sahil Ibrahim, Resourcing Adviser via email at Educationstaffrecruitment@arts.ac.uk.
