The opportunity
London College of Communication seeks a library information professional with a relevant archiving background to support a programme of cataloguing UAL's archives, museum and special collections. Your primary focus will be on the uncatalogued section of the Zine Collection at LCC, where you will create individual catalogue records in Koha and ensure compliance with library RDA and Marc 21 standards. You will also contribute to the conservation and preservation of the physical samples in line with expert preservation advice, curate a physical display, and promote the newly catalogued zines through social media activity. Additionally, you will support colleagues to respond to enquiries about the Zine Collection. Your work will contribute to the decolonisation of the University's collections through critical cataloguing practices that challenge dominance and stereotyping. Join us and use your knowledge and skills to make the collections discoverable, support teaching, learning, and research at UAL and beyond.
About you
To be successful in this role, you should hold a degree in an information-related subject, arts or humanities, at either graduate or postgraduate level or have equivalent experience in a cultural heritage environment. You should have a demonstrable interest in collections and an appreciation of efforts in libraries to update and expand the language we use to describe materials within our collections and make them accessible to a wider audience. You should also have knowledge of metadata standards such as RDA, AACR2, MARC 21 and LCSH, as well as experience of working with library, museum or archive collections, undertaking data entry, and using a library or collection management system or other database system.
If you need any reasonable adjustments for your application, please contact, Sahil Ibrahim, Resourcing Adviser via email at Educationstaffrecruitment@arts.ac.uk.
