The opportunity

The post-holder will support the Head of Research Information Systems in the administration of UAL’s current research information system (Elements), data repository (Figshare), research profiles (Discovery Module) and other research management software systems. You will assist with the day-to-day management of these system, including daily checks of functionality, setting up new users, troubleshooting queries and liaising with relevant teams to correct problems, as well as assisting with updates to these systems, including data testing and re-entry.

About you

To assist the Head of Research Information systems with the administration of research management systems, including:

  • Running daily reports to check systems are functioning correctly.
  • Alerting relevant colleagues when issues arise.
  • Carrying out checks on user statuses, including adding new users and removing those no longer required.
  • Answering basic questions from staff, and directing other queries as necessary.
  • Monitoring uploads to Figshare.
  • Assisting with the implementation of system updates.

To support academic staff across UAL in their access to research systems training, including: 

  • Administration of internal training sessions, including adding sessions to UAL booking systems, arranging Teams meetings, and answering booking queries.
  • Reviewing training documentation on a regular basis to ensure it is up to date and revising where necessary to reflect any changes to systems or processes.
  • Update content on UAL’s intranet (Canvas) pages.

To assist with the collection and preparation of UAL’s REF submission, including:

  • supporting the administration of the systems and processes to prepare, validate and submit the data.
  • providing regular progress updates to members of the REF team by running standard reports such as outputs submitted, input issues to be resolved etc.
  • engaging with academics and other colleagues to promote the use of Elements and UALRO as part of their regular workload in order to fulfil REF requirements.
  • responding to REF audit queries and contribute to the analysis of REF results.

To assist RMA teams on research data management, particularly in the development of data management plans.
