The opportunity

Camberwell College of Arts is seeking to appoint a Lead Specialist Technician to provide student facing professional technical expertise, guidance and knowledge within the subject specialism of fine art/painting.

You will support and supervise learning activities to enable students to identify and learn appropriate painting methods and techniques and use materials, resources and equipment for experimentation and research to meet their learning outcomes.

You will also assist in the delivery of technical support within the wider technical team and contribute critical input to student concept and expressive/creative intention, including giving feedback to students and contributing to student formative assessments.

About you

The successful candidate will have experience working within creative higher education and an understanding of technical theory within the subject of Painting. Educated to degree level in a relevant art, design or performance subject, and/or with industry level qualifications or certification, you will be able to demonstrate a strong background in fine art/painting, an understanding of its technical processes as well as surface preparation and accompanying materials.

You will also have an excellent working knowledge of studio culture and the strong organisation and coordination skills required to enable efficient and effective studio delivery. Demonstrable practical knowledge of H&S, COSHH, Risk Assessment and safe working practices is equally important.
