The opportunity

The successful candidate will provide support for student learning, delivering informal and formal training and technical workshops. In this key role, you will provide professional expertise, guidance and advice and contribute to the delivery of technical services within the technical team. You will be required to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of 3D and Jewellery workshops, including the use and booking of specialist facilities, i.e. casting rooms, Computer Aided Design / Computer Aided Making (CAD/CAM), and the laser cutting service.

You will be working within the 3D and Fashion Jewellery workshops ensuring both staff and students can work safely within health and safety regulations, supervising and assisting students with their work.

About you

You will have a strong track record in Jewellery, Fashion Jewellery and 3D. You will have the experience of teaching and / or demonstrating equipment and techniques related to Jewellery and 3D production techniques including digital technology (e.g. Rhino). You will have the ability to understand and explain technical / specialist terms commonly used in this area.

A degree and a post graduate qualification are desirable or an equivalent qualification / experience in the area of Jewellery and 3D. You will need subject experience and to be committed to working within a team and have worked within HE sector. You will be a motivated, creative individual with high levels of technical competence and a dedication to technological development. With good communication skills, you will be able to contribute critical input to student concept and expressive / creative intention, including giving feedback to students and helping with student formative assessments, with reference to appropriate learning outcomes of the course or project.

If invited for interview, you will be asked to take part in a test and also to present a portfolio of your work to the interview panel.
