The opportunity

We are looking for an Associate Lecturer to join our MA Innovation Management (MAIM) course, based in the Creative Enterprise Programme, S-School at Central Saint Martins (CSM), University of the Arts London.

For almost 20 years, MA Innovation Management (MAIM) has attracted an ambitious community of students and practitioners from the creative industries, social sciences, technology, business, entrepreneurship and public services. As one of the first courses to situate innovation management within an art and design college, MAIM has developed a distinctive approach connecting design-led, social and cultural innovation with critical futures thinking, technological change, systems thinking, and emerging care-centred and regenerative practices.

Grounded in academic enquiry and engaged with real-world industry professionals and briefs, students develop creative, strategic and adaptive leadership competencies through critical enquiry, experimentation and interdisciplinary collaboration. They examine values and ethical questions, while gaining transferable skills of innovation research, project management, teamwork, communication and facilitation, preparing them to navigate complexity and shape innovation across diverse sectors and contexts.

As an Associate Lecturer with expertise in  innovation research and practices, you will guide students in research methods, fieldwork and synthesis, academic writing, human and planet-centred design, and responsible innovation. You will support research outputs and live team project outcomes, helping students connect academic scholarship with professional practice.

Your role will include teaching, tutorials, supervision, assessment and feedback, fostering academic rigour, independent thinking and professional development. You may also contribute to workshops, collaborative projects, events and exhibitions.

You will join a progressive course team committed to evolving the curriculum through interdisciplinary approaches to complexity, identities and plural futures, while engaging with social inequity, economic and climate crises, and emerging relationships between human, more-than-human and machine intelligences.

Your profile

You will be an experienced academic or practitioner with expertise in innovation management, research and practice, ideally with experience of teaching, mentorship, supervision and assessment in higher education.

You will have a strong understanding of research methods, critical enquiry and communicating innovation, with the ability to guide students in developing rigorous research and articulating their ideas effectively.

Ideally, you will be fluent in both academic and industry contexts, with experience of interdisciplinary collaboration, applied research, innovation projects or facilitated research and innovation sprints.

You will understand postgraduate academic standards and student experience, communicate inclusively with diverse audiences, and work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary course team.
