The opportunity
As a Lecturer in Fashion and Textiles, you'll take responsibility for teaching, curriculum development and on-going scholarship within the Fashion and Textiles curriculum area of the Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design at UAL's School of Pre-Degree Studies. Working collaboratively within a course team, you'll deploy your specialist expertise to develop pedagogy and curriculum in innovative and critical directions, while providing pastoral support, and monitoring the progress and attendance, of a year group of students.
The role covers rigorous and fair assessment, academic and pastoral student support, and pedagogic inquiry focused on student engagement, experience and progression. You'll stay abreast of research and developments in your subject area to keep the curriculum at the forefront of critical creative and professional practice, engage with debates on decolonising the curriculum and awarding gaps, and contribute to strategic planning, quality monitoring and course committees across the School.
Your profile
We're looking for someone with experience of teaching and assessment in a Further and Higher Education environment or equivalent (permanent, fractional or hourly paid), and a relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent experience. You'll be regarded as an authority in your field of specialism, specifically fashion design, with a track record of research and/or professional practice and connections within your subject peer group. Strong, inclusive communication skills are essential, along with the ability to plan and manage resources effectively and work collaboratively across teams. A teaching qualification (PGCert or equivalent) is desirable but not essential. We are UAL
