Associate Lecturer – Technical Tutor

The opportunity

As part of the delivery of the Technical Studies Unit, the Technical Tutor will deliver technical tuition to students in relation to the brief set by the Technical Studies Subject Leader, providing guidance on all areas including Structure, Environment, Materials, Construction and Sustainability. Delivery also includes assessment. Technical tutors will see students regularly during the course of the Unit’s delivery (typically over 10 weeks for a 20-credit unit). 

A Technical Tutor will be appointed as Associate Lecturer to teach in Technical Studies on the BA (Hons) Architecture course, based in the Spatial Practices Programme at Central Saint Martins. You will tutor 8-25 students preparing for and delivering structured learning experiences including classes, tutorials, workshops, and studio critiques. As part of the course team, you will prepare and participate in formative and summative assessment. You will join an experienced team of teachers and practitioners in delivering core teaching on BA Architecture. We are currently looking to build a pool of Associate Lecturers we can draw on to join the existing team as and when opportunities arise. 

Your profile

You will be a highly empathetic, knowledgeable, creative and motivated individual who is active in your specialist field and preferably has experience of delivering high-quality learning experiences within Further and/or Higher Education. An effective communicator, confident in your ability to deal with a large and diverse student cohort, you'll be good at working collaboratively in a team, bringing ideas and approaches to teaching and learning to support excellent pedagogy. We are especially interested in recruiting staff members who can support CSM’s academic strategy with a strong focus on equity, decolonisation, sustainability climate and ecology.
