The opportunity

Do you want to play a key role in a small, friendly team, supporting research staff and students at a world-leading arts college?

We are looking for an organised and collaborative Research Administrator to join our team. This varied post combines two areas of work: supporting the wider Research Team and providing administrative support to The Abundance Project. The Abundance Project is exploring how Black, minority ethnic and refugee communities can engage more effectively with cultural, green and community assets, including galleries, museums, natural spaces and community organisations.

As part of the Research Team, you will help keep a busy research environment running smoothly. Your work will include finance processing and budget monitoring, data collation and reporting, supporting research funding schemes and opportunities, administering events, coordinating bookings and meetings, and maintaining internal research communications. You will work closely with colleagues across Research, Finance, HR, Legal, IT and Estates, helping to ensure that processes are efficient, accurate and responsive.

Your support for the project will span day-to-day administration, budget monitoring and financial records, organising project and Advisory Board meetings, coordinating workshops and public engagement activities, liaising with partners and stakeholders, maintaining the project website and helping to collate research materials and project outputs.

Your profile

You’ll be motivated by process-driven work, with a natural flair for organisation and task management. You’ll have experience of general administration, excellent attention to detail and confidence managing competing priorities. Experience of finance processing and budget monitoring is important, while knowledge of Agresso Business World (ABW) or similar finance software would be an advantage.

You will be a confident and inclusive communicator, comfortable working with research staff, students, colleagues across different professional teams and external partners. You should also be approachable, responsive and able to use initiative to resolve problems as they arise. Experience of research administration, or an understanding of practice-based research, would be advantageous, as would an interest in research across fine art, design and performance.
