The opportunity
Help shape the next generation of creative leaders in the Fashion industry.
London College of Fashion is seeking an accomplished creative practitioner to join us as Senior Lecturer in Creative Direction for Fashion.
Based within the School of Media and Communication, you will help shape the BA (Hons) Creative Direction for Fashion course, contributing to a future-facing curriculum that responds to cultural, technological, social and environmental change.
Your teaching will explore contemporary creative direction across physical, digital and blended communication environments. You might be guiding students as they develop a visual identity, interrogate the cultural impact of a campaign, experiment with creative technologies and AI, or consider how creative direction can influence social and environmental change.
You will encourage students to understand creative direction not simply as an aesthetic discipline, but as a strategic, cultural and ethical practice. Through teaching, assessment, tutorials and collaborative projects, you will help them develop distinctive creative voices, strategic confidence, cultural intelligence and a thoughtful understanding of representation, inclusion and intersectionality.
Working closely with the Course Leader and wider course team, you will bring emerging technologies, digital cultures and evolving creative methodologies into teaching and curriculum development. You will also build relationships with industry, cultural organisations and community partners, creating opportunities that strengthen student learning, employability and graduate outcomes.
Your profile
You will bring experience of teaching and assessment in higher education, or equivalent educational experience, alongside a relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent professional expertise. A teaching qualification such as a PGCert, or Senior Fellowship of Advance HE, is essential.
You will also have significant professional experience in creative direction, fashion communication, creative strategy, art direction, image-making, visual storytelling, brand communication or a related field, together with evidence of professional practice, scholarship or research that informs contemporary creative direction and creative leadership.
You will be an engaging and inclusive communicator with a strong understanding of contemporary creative industries. We are particularly interested in applicants whose practice, scholarship or research engages with creative direction through the lens of sustainable and responsible futures, digital and blended experiences, visual storytelling, creative technologies and AI, interdisciplinary practice, cultural innovation, or social and environmental change.
