The opportunity

Camberwell, Chelsea and Wimbledon Colleges of Arts are looking for a Research Impact Fellow to play a central role in strengthening the Colleges’ research impact culture and supporting the development of high-quality impact for REF 2029 and beyond.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a dynamic research environment following the success of Research Excellence Framework 2021, which confirmed UAL’s leading position in Art and Design research.

As a Research Impact Fellow, you will work closely with the Associate Dean of Research, as well as colleagues from across the Colleges and the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange teams to support the development, articulation and evidencing of research impact at CCW. You will assist researchers in identifying and assessing the significance of the cultural, social, environmental, economic and policy areas of their work, helping to translate their creative, practice-based and theoretical research into meaningful and evidenced impact for future REF submissions.

You will also take responsibility for coordinating and managing impact-related processes, including maintaining accurate and accessible records, databases and tracking systems. A key part of your role will involve embedding best practice in impact planning from the project design stage, as well as improving approaches to impact capture, documentation and communication. You will also provide expert advice on impact pathways, logic models, theories of change and stakeholder engagement, helping to strengthen the Colleges’ overall impact portfolio.

Your profile

The successful candidate will hold a PhD or equivalent research qualification and bring a strong understanding of research impact within the UK higher education sector. You will be confident in communicating complex ideas clearly and professionally to a wide range of audiences, including those from diverse and international backgrounds.

With excellent organisational, project management and interpersonal skills, you will be able to manage competing priorities, work collaboratively across teams and effectively support colleagues in navigating the complexities of research impact.
