The opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional academic leader to join our Academic Leadership Group as Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Affairs) at an important moment in the University's evolution as a globally connected creative institution.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global Affairs) will play a central role in shaping and delivering UAL’s international strategy and strengthening the University’s global engagement. Working closely with the Executive Dean for Global Affairs, the Vice-Chancellor and senior colleagues across the University, the postholder will lead the development of purposeful international partnerships, expand opportunities for global collaboration and position UAL as a leading voice in international creative education.

This role will guide the development of new models of global engagement including transnational education partnerships, international mobility opportunities and strategic alliances with universities, cultural organisations, governments and industry partners. The postholder will also support the diversification of international student recruitment and develop new international income streams through collaborative programmes and global initiatives.

If you are energised by the opportunity to shape the next chapter of UAL’s global engagement – strengthening our partnerships, extending our reach and ensuring that our international strategy reflects the values and ambitions of our diverse community – we would love to hear from you.

The Pro Vice-Chancellor Global Affairs will act as an ambassador for the University internationally, representing UAL with governments, sector bodies and international networks. Working across Colleges and central teams, the role will ensure that global perspectives are embedded across education, research and knowledge exchange and that UAL’s international strategy reflects the values and ambitions of its diverse global community.

Your profile

You will be an accomplished academic leader with a strong track record of delivering international strategy, developing global partnerships and advancing institutional impact within Higher Education or a similarly complex global environment.

You will bring extensive knowledge of the international Higher Education landscape including transnational education models, global student mobility and international engagement frameworks. You will have demonstrated success in establishing and managing high level international partnerships and developing initiatives that generate sustainable income while strengthening institutional reputation.

You will be a confident and credible ambassador able to represent the University with governments, universities, cultural organisations and international agencies. Your leadership style will be collaborative and inclusive, with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse academic and professional communities.

Strategic, thoughtful and outward looking, you will combine intellectual curiosity with practical delivery. Above all, you will share UAL’s commitment to creativity, global collaboration and the role of education in addressing shared global challenges.
