The opportunity

We are looking for Associate Lecturers in Contextual and Theoretical Studies in the Design School to deliver teaching and assessment of units across all undergraduate courses. You will have a background in visual culture, design history, design studies, art history, architectural history, cultural studies or associated field.

We are looking for someone who is committed to undergraduate teaching and is interested in exploring the relationship between theory and practice in design. Your research interests and expertise may relate to the following areas: branding and consumer culture; digital technologies and media studies; decolonisation; global visual cultures and representation; creative and cultural industries; graphic design history and theory.

Your profile

Your main responsibility will be preparation, teaching, administration and assessment of Contextual and Theoretical Studies units, or parts of a unit. Your approach to teaching will challenge the canon of visual culture and design studies with the aim of promoting diversity and inclusivity.

You will be responsible for convening weekly workshops and seminars, offering tutorial support, and undertaking both formative and summative assessment at Level 4 and 5.

You will be working independently and as part of a team to deliver weekly sessions. You will be responsible for students’ academic and pastoral support, maintaining an overview of their progress and attendance, and liaising with colleagues as appropriate.

You will work closely with other academic staff, including the CTS Coordinators and CTS Leader. You will participate in regular team meetings, benchmarking and moderation sessions to ensure appropriate academic standards are met.

If you have any specific queries about this role please contact the CTS Leader – r.rebernjak@lcc.arts.ac.uk
