The opportunity
University of the Arts London is seeking a Concierge Assistant with a background in security and customer-facing facilities management services to join our Accommodation Services team. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your skills and experience within a vibrant, student-focused service, where your expertise will have a meaningful impact on both residents and the wider university community.
Accommodation Services houses more than 3,200 students across 12 halls of residence located throughout London on fixed-term tenancies. Working as part of a team delivering a 24/7 service, you will provide a friendly, professional front-of-house concierge service to students living in UAL-managed halls, offering support and assistance while ensuring a customer-focused approach that reflects UAL’s high standards.
You will welcome residents and guests, offer assistance and guidance and help maintain a safe, supportive atmosphere while remaining attentive to students' well-being. Your responsibilities will include managing post and parcel systems, conducting routine inspections, carrying out internal and external patrols and supporting the smooth operation and security of the premises.
You will be expected to work flexibly on a 4 day shift rotation from 20:00 to 08:00. Outlined in a 4 days on, 4 days off shift pattern.
Your profile
We are seeking an individual with SIA Door Supervisor Level 2 accreditation and demonstrable experience in security, portering and mail handling operations, along with experience in customer-facing facilities management services. You will be confident using CCTV software management systems, including reviewing footage and producing still images, along with knowledge of keycard access systems, reprogramming fobs/cards and interrogating access reports.
You will also demonstrate a sound understanding of current Health & Safety regulations, Safeguarding, Mental health awareness and COSHH requirements, together with practical low-level maintenance skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently and undertake lone working when required.
