The opportunity
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Support Technician to join the Kit Room and Studios team in a role that combines hands-on technical expertise with creative collaboration in a vibrant academic environment.
Based in the Kit Room, our college-wide equipment loan service, you will become part of a dedicated technical team supporting students and staff working with both digital and analogue media equipment. You will be responsible for the loan, maintenance and day-to-day administration of equipment and studio spaces, offering practical advice and technical guidance that supports academic activity and helps students achieve their academic and creative potential.
The role involves the daily preparation of studios, facilities, and resources to ensure they are safe, well maintained and fully operational. You will also assist with the preparation of learning materials, equipment, and consumables.
This position also offers an excellent opportunity to develop your technical support skills. You will work closely with students, providing technical assistance and advice that helps them build confidence with new tools and techniques, including the use of the ORB platform.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with a relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent practical experience working with analogue and digital media equipment and spaces. You will have experience delivering student-facing customer or technical support and using online systems to manage resources. Strong communication and organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across different professional groups.
You will use your initiative, creativity, and problem-solving skills to resolve technical issues and contribute to the smooth running of the Kit Room and Studios.
