The opportunity
We are seeking an Associate Lecturer to teach on our BA (Hons) Computer Animation and Visual Effects course. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a candidate who is passionate about teaching, committed to maintaining an innovative and creative curriculum, and eager to promote inclusion and diversity. We are looking for someone who can help graduates develop a deep understanding of the complex and specialist skillset required in 3D and Visual Effects.
Your primary responsibility will be to deliver our 3D curriculum to university level students, providing both group sessions and one-to-one support. You will make a significant contribution to the quality of learning and play an active role in supporting students to achieve their academic and creative goals. The role requires a flexible approach and a generalist 3D skillset; all teaching takes place on-site at our Elephant and Castle campus.
Essential Skills
- Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Maya, with experience across different techniques and production outputs.
- Good communication and willingness to present to a group of students
- Organisation skills and ability to plan and deliver teaching content
Desirable Skills (proficiency in at least one of these skills is desirable)
- Understanding of rigging and animation.
- A working knowledge of Nuke, including clean up and wire removal techniques, 2D and 3D tracking, keying workflows, greenscreen compositing, projections, and more.
- Knowledges of cameras, lenses and filming.
- Knowledge of Houdini, ZBrush, Blender
- Knowledge of Adobe programs (Photoshop, After Effects, In-Design, Illustrator)
This is an hourly paid lecturer role - your schedule will be term time only and will vary throughout the year.
You will work closely with other academic staff, including the course leader and lecturers.

Your profile
The ideal candidate will have experience teaching ideally in Higher Education or similar and/or working in a relevant field. You will take a dynamic and innovative approach to supporting excellent teaching, pedagogy and inclusivity. You will have a good knowledge of compositing workflows ideally with industry experience. You will have an awareness of the global social, cultural, environmental, political and economic issues that are transforming moving image practices.
PG Cert teaching qualification is desirable or equivalent experience.
You must be resident in the UK to be considered for Associate Lecturer vacancies.
