The opportunity

London College of Fashion is seeking a proactive, hands-on individual to join our Technical Team in the Fab Lab on a part time basis.

Based in our Digital Fabrication Lab, you will contribute to the delivery of technical services and resources, working with your colleagues to support the day-to-day operations of our teaching and learning facilities.

In this role, you will provide technical assistance and advice to students on a 1-1 or small group basis, helping them to develop new skills and a familiarity with digital fabrication tools and techniques, including laser cutting, 3D printing and CNC milling.

In addition to this, you will be responsible for basic and routine maintenance procedures within the workshop and will undertake the daily preparation of facilities and resources. This will include assisting with the preparation of learning materials for workshops, and equipment and consumables for students and staff, ensuring that the workshop remains well-stocked, well-maintained and ready for use.

Your profile

You will have a relevant qualification, significant practical or industry experience in creative product or garment design, with a particular focus on laser cutting and digital production tools and techniques.

You will also have a strong knowledge of 2D and 3D software (specifically Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Trotec Ruby, ApS Ethos and Rhino) to create toolpaths for laser cutting and designing digitally fabricated garments and products.

Previous digital workshop experience and an understanding of relevant Health and Safety legislation is essential, as is the ability to communicate technical information clearly and support students with their work.
