The opportunity
We are looking for a dynamic and experienced academic to lead the development and delivery of a new fully online MA in Illustration Practices.
This newly validated course is future facing, developed for an era of rapid change to enable students, as contemporary illustrators, to move beyond conventional boundaries, to engage with new media, interdisciplinary approaches and diverse audiences. Illustration Practices approaches the discipline as an evolving and relational practice that responds dynamically to the shifting social, cultural, economic and technological landscapes.
The flexible online model of this course has been developed to meet the needs of global learners with busy lives and widen access to the university. Teaching is predominantly embedded in pre-prepared materials, videos, tasks and asynchronous activities that make up the majority of the learning experience. Live learning (e.g. synchronous online webinars) is limited and accompanied by frequent tutor feedback to ensure a supportive and flexible learning experience.
You will join the Camberwell, Chelsea & Wimbledon School of Design and will work in collaboration with UAL Online, bringing your experience of teaching and practice in Illustration to develop a creative and future facing curriculum and learning experience for a new global audience of learners. You will manage the course academic staff, lead teaching and assessment, and will collaborate with UAL Online and college colleagues to support the development, launch and growth of the course.
Your profile
We are looking for someone with specialist academic and leadership experience in arts education and a strong understanding of the contemporary Illustration industry to lead this newly validated fully online MA course.
You will have established teamworking and communication skills and be wable to support a growing team with highly collaborative hybrid working methods. You will bring diverse perspectives and industry voices into the new course curriculum, and be ready to support a globally dispersed cohort to develop their individual illustration practices.
You don’t need extensive experience of online teaching and learning, but you do need to be open to the advantages of flexible fully online delivery to widen access to Higher Education.
