The opportunity

Are you a visionary actor and practitioner who wants to shape the future of performance education? Wimbledon College of Arts is seeking a Senior Lecturer, Head of Acting and Year Leader to oversee teaching, curriculum development, and ongoing scholarship on our BA Acting and Performance course.

This role places you at the forefront of a course dedicated to developing artist practice, driving contemporary culture, and enabling students to become creative, confident, and articulate storytellers. At Wimbledon College of Arts, we champion non-hierarchical theatre-making, valuing all approaches to performance as equally capable of producing meaningful theatre.

To this effect, you’ll bring your knowledge and industry experience in acting and contemporary theatre to develop the curriculum in innovative and critical directions, challenging the canon of contemporary performance while promoting diversity and inclusion.

You’ll stay abreast of research and industry developments to ensure they are reflected in the curriculum, and you’ll contribute to teaching and scholarly activity, supporting learning across a wide range of methodologies and practices. Additionally, you’ll take responsibility for a year group of undergraduate students, providing pastoral support, monitoring progress and attendance, and liaising with colleagues to ensure a supportive learning environment.

Your profile

We’re looking for an individual who can integrate professional practice as an actor or director into the course, demonstrating extensive experience of teaching acting at all levels, particularly within professional vocational training programmes.

A strong commitment to nurturing the next generation of performers for the creative industries, coupled with an understanding of and dedication to creating an inclusive training environment that supports the creative development of a diverse range of people is essential.

You’ll also possess knowledge and experience of contemporary theatre, theatre-making processes, and professional experience across TV, film, gaming, digital, audio, media, or theatre industries.
