The opportunity
Are you passionate about shaping the future of user experience design? We are looking for Associate Lecturers to bring their expertise in design methods and UX principles to our MA User Experience Design at UAL. This is a practice-led course where you’ll guide students to explore, challenge and create within a rapidly growing and evolving field of design.
Our course is built around collaboration; with industry partners, with communities, and with one another. You’ll help nurture these relationships and ensure students gain not only technical skills but also a critical and creative understanding of design’s role in society. You’ll join a lively postgraduate environment that values experimentation, dialogue, and creative risk-taking.
As part of the teaching team, you’ll lead seminars, deliver technical workshops, and contribute to assessment. You’ll also have opportunities to bring in your own interests and perspectives, helping students make connections between contemporary debates in UX and wider cultural, social and ethical contexts.
Further information should be viewed on the course pages before application (https://www.arts.ac.uk/subjects/animation-interactive-film-and-sound/postgraduate/ma-user-experience-design-lcc)
Your profile
You may be a practitioner or researcher working in user experience, user-centred design - or a related creative discipline. What matters most is that you bring curiosity, energy, and the ability to inspire students with your knowledge and experience.
We’d especially love to hear from you if you can offer one or more of the following:
- A critical awareness of AI systems, and the ability to help students engage with them thoughtfully.
- Practical design and making skills that expand how students experiment and prototype.
- Experience of leading seminars and creating discussion-based learning.
You’ll likely be active in professional networks or communities of practice, and familiar with the contemporary debates shaping the UX field. Experience of working with higher education students is desirable, as is engagement with questions of decolonising design and climate justice principles. Most importantly, you’ll be comfortable working with diverse groups and committed to supporting an inclusive student experience.
You must be resident in the UK to be considered for Associate Lecturer vacancies.
