The opportunity
The Events Officer works closely with the Events Manager and Associate Director of Strategic Events and Showcasing to deliver a creative and engaging programme of key events for the University that expand our networks and reflect UAL’s position as one of the world’s leading art and design Universities. Recently this has included the Scholars’ Celebration, the Staff Summer Party and Graduation ceremonies.
The Events Officer provides the administrative and operational underpinning of the events
programme, developing and implementing key administrative processes for the team and
acting as an advocate for best practice across UAL. With support from the Events Manager, they will be responsible for the delivery of their own portfolio of engagements, such as donor receptions, bespoke tours and panel discussions, as well as providing support for larger activities as needed.
This is an important role for a creative individual with excellent attention to detail, who will
play a key part in ensuring an exceptional experience for all stakeholders and the efficient delivery of UAL events.
Your profile
Experience, knowledge and qualifications
- Experience of using databases for event related data management (knowledge of
Raiser’s Edge and/or Salesforce is desirable)
- 2+ years’ experience of event coordination and administration, including managing
guest lists, RSVPs and working with a database
- Strong organisational and project management abilities, working both independently and with a team
Communication skills
- Excellent communication skills and attention to detail, both written and verbal
- Comfortable communicating with people of all levels and backgrounds
Planning and managing resources
- Plans, prioritises and organises work to achieve objectives on time
Customer Service
- Ability to build strong relationships with a wide range of people, including internal
colleagues and external stakeholders, such as suppliers and event guests
Teamwork
- Ability to work constructively and collaboratively with colleagues across teams and colleges
Creativity, innovation and problem-solving
- Uses initiative to identify innovative solutions to problems
