The opportunity

University of the Arts London is seeking an experienced and proactive Governance Manager to play a central role in supporting and strengthening governance across the institution.

This is a pivotal position within the University, providing expert guidance and operational support to ensure that our governance structures remain robust, compliant, and strategically aligned. You will be responsible for clerking governor and other key committee meetings, managing agenda preparation, meeting arrangements, minute-taking, and undertaking follow-up actions when necessary.

You will also provide high-quality support to the University Secretary and Deputy University Secretary, as well as manage the Corporate Governance Team. Your assistance will be instrumental in supporting the University Secretary in their duties as Clerk to the Governing Body.

You will also provide advice and guidance to senior managers and governors, offering clear interpretations of the University's governing documents, standing orders, and terms of reference.

Your profile

You will need previous experience of working with governance frameworks across the charitable, higher/further education, or public sectors. You will also have a solid background in providing committee support in one or more of these areas.

Equally important is your ability to engage confidently and professionally with senior management and trustees. You will be skilled in drafting clear and accurate reports, minutes, and agendas, drawing on your excellent communication skills.

Strong organisational skills, a proactive approach to your work and a collaborative mindset are also essential for success in this role.
